High-sensitivity all-optical sampling for 40 Gb/s signals

High sensitivity and absence of impedance mismatching makes optical sampling techniques attractive for monitoring 40 Gb/s signals. We present theory and experiments showing 40 Gb/s eye-diagrams with 20 dB SNR at -25 dBm average signal power.
