Guido J.L. de Reijer

Doctoral Student at Applied Chemistry

When I first learned about catalysis, I became intrigued by the numerous ways a catalyst can manipulate a reaction by reducing energy demands while increasing reaction kinetics. After exploring several fields including thin film, single crystal and heterogeneous catalysis, I am currently working on the conversion of bio-derived furans into aromatics. Through catalyst design, synthesis and modification, I want to elucidate the reaction using in situ spectroscopy. My aim is to develop a sustainable method for producing commodity chemicals.
