Pauline Bollongino

Doctoral Student at Transport, Energy and Environment

My research within the VEKTOR project right now focuses on developing reliable techniques to detect invasive species with eDNA, in ports as well as in niche areas of different vessels. The data produced will be used to track invasion status, predict and mitigate future invasions, and advice authorities and other steakholder, like shipowners on how to minimize invasion risk. The results will be included in the HullMASTER project.

During my marine biology master studies in Chioggia (IT) I specialized in conservation and worked with the influence of nutrient surplus on the saltmarsh erosion in the venice lagoon (The influence of eutrophication and connected accumulation of wrack deposits on natural saltmarshes in the Venice Lagoon).

Here I am happy to combine my marine conservation background with my bachelors in technical Biology (Stuttgart, Germany).
