Robert Auenhammer

Doctor at Material and Computational Mechanics

Robert Auenhammer is a PhD Student within the group Composite Mechanics. For three years he had been part of the European research network Mummering, which was funded by the EU framework program Horizon 2020. The Mummering network consisted of 15 PhD students (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researchers) who worked with 3D imaging and engineering application for it. During the Mummering project he focused on how X-ray computed tomography based finite element modelling of composites can be utilised to improve the stiffness and fatigue performance of wind turbine blades. After the end of the project, he continues this research direction together with Volvo Cars, Beta CAE and IAC. The goal of the new project is to apply the developed image-based modelling techniques on natural fibre composites for crash analyses.
