Veronica Bonzanini
In her PhD at Chalmers University of Technology, Veronica aims to identify a superior Odd Chain Fatty Acid (OCFA) producer strains and develop an OCFA-overproducing yeast cell factory that gives high yield and productivity, which is robust and can exploit cheap substrates. To date, has been just scratched the surface about the exploitation of non-conventional yeast as cell factories, and very little is known about the metabolic pathways to produce OCFA in yeasts and their properties. That´s why her studies will help to build knowledge about lipid metabolism in non-conventional yeast and bring new light on industrial OCFA production in yeasts.
