Lean construction – the current situation
Research Project, 2021
– 2022
This project is intended to be carried out as a systematic research-based study on the Swedish construction industry's use of lean construction. A recent productivity survey (Koch et al. 2020) and a literature study show a great need for a revitalization of lean in construction processes. In the project, a survey is conducted within industry group 41 ("Construction of houses"), industry group 42 ("construction work"), and industry group 43 ("specialized construction"). Based on the situation, forward-looking workshops are then conducted. Integrated project delivery is introduced where relevant. The project is followed by an expert group consisting of representatives from PEAB, NCC and JM, as well as a reference group with members from Byggföretagen (invited), Installationsföretagen and FoU Väst. This preliminary project is planned as the first step in the prospective project “Lean Construction - the current situation and the way forward”, where the next step is the development of future production strategies for contractors.
