Escaping digital paralysis: Methods for bridging digital innovation and digital transformation
Research Project, 2021 – 2022

Purpose and goal
The project aims to help companies avoid digital paralysis by improving the skills and capacity to lead and organize digital transformation.

Expected results and effects
The project is expected to help Swedish industrial companies to develop methods and strategies that make it possible to pursue digital transformation, break free from digital paralysis and avoid starting new digital initiatives that do not lead to any major impact.

Planned approach and implementation
In this project, we will observe the implementation of digital technology at a leading company in the pulp and paper industry. The digital technology will be implemented in collaboration with a technology partner with expertise in machine learning. We will rely on four areas rooted in organizational theory (technology, activities, boundaries and objectives) when analyzing implementation, paralysis and transformation.
