Condition monitoring system for metalworking fluids
Research Project, 2022

Wavi Analytics has developed sensors for automated condition monitoring of metalworking fluids. Annually, over 400 million liters of oils are used for metalworking fluids in the US alone. By in-line monitoring and predictive maintenance the fluid life time is expected to be extended by about 2-4 times. The solution can therefore contribute to a more competitive and greener manufacturing by saving million tonnes of oil every year and taking fluid management to the age of industry 4.0.

The underlying technology was developed in a project at RISE, and was spun out to Wavi Analytics in 2020. Today, the company is run by an entrepreneurial team that is working on commercializing the research results. The activities in 2022 will target to take the technology closer to market by integrating and standardizing the components into a final product. This will include hardware development, software integration, and developing new machine learning features for the sensor data.
