Samverkan för biologisk mångfald - kunskap, känsla, krafttag (SamBio)
Research Project, 2023 – 2025

This project aims to build and spread knowledge and engagement around biodiversity in the Region of Västra Götaland in order to support the regional development strategy. This will be done in two parts focusing on (1) education and (2) stakeholder interaction, both driven by a core coordination capacity seated at the Gothenburg Global Biodiversity Centre (GGBC) at the University of Gothenburg. The first part will coordinate outreach and education through the GGBC and with science centres in the region to make biodiversity an overarching and accessible concept. This project will provide school children as well as teachers access to timely and relevant information and activities linked to biodiversity, regardless of where in the region they are located. Second, the project will focus on increased collaboration, knowledge-sharing and competence building for stakeholders, including trade, industry and land owners, with a focus on key stakeholders (näringsliv & nyckelaktörer). The overall aim of the project is to strengthen existing connections and create new collaborations to increase understanding of what biodiversity is, why it is important and what we can do in the short and long term to conserve it. The long-term outcome of this will be an improved acess to science-based biodiversity information and experiences for education as well as for businesses and decision-makers in the Region of Västra Götaland, leading to a far-reaching positive impact on biodiversity and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
