Digital solutions for sustainable planning and management of shared micromobility using Big Data
Research Project, 2023 – 2025

This project aims to promote the sustainable development and regulation of SMS in different urban contexts by providing quantitative insights based on big data about the performances of different types of SMS in different city areas (i.e., sustainability and efficiency from both user and system perspectives), and digital solutions for scientific planning and management regarding SMS. Special emphasis is leveraging emerging new techniques, including big data, deep learning and digitalisation, to develop and implement a set of new analysis approaches that can overcome the inherent shortcomings of conventional models, which will form a digital prototype as well. This proposal, coordinated by Chalmers and collaborated with the City of Stockholm, WSP and CERO, aims to lay out a solid assessment framework and digital tools based on big data to support Swedish municipalities and relevant stakeholders in developing effective planning and management for adapting SMS as a flexible, accessible, and sustainable supplement in current transport systems.
