Removal of microplastics and other contaminants from sediment
Research Project, 2024 – 2025

In this project, we aim to test several methods that have the potential to clean sediments of microplastics, metals, and organic pollutants in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. The methods will be tested on two to three types of sediments to evaluate their effectiveness and ensure that they work on sediments of different origins, as the composition and pollution levels of sediments vary from place to place. The results of the project will contribute to cleaner sediments and provide alternatives to deposition. This can help achieve several national and international environmental and sustainability goals. The project also contributes to all dimensions of the concept of sustainable development, the development of green technology, and promotes sustainable shipping.
