Aluminum Foil coating with Graphene as Current Collector of LiFePO4 Cathode in Lithium-ion Battery
Research Project, 2024 – 2025

Aluminum coated with graphene can significantly improve the current collector efficiency of the LFP cathode in lithium-ion batteries, thereby improving battery performance. This project aims to use different graphene compositions and coating techniques on aluminum foil to fabricate and evaluate as LFP cathode current collectors for Li-ion batteries and develop materials and processes for new application areas with particular focus on the rapidly growing green energy storage industry in Europe.

Expected effects and result
-a graphene slurry that has good adhesion to the Al surface - a coating technology that provides a homogeneous coating with a controlled thickness that is close to future industry standards. - evaluation of the adhesion of the graphene film to Al CC, as well as evaluation of the conductivity and homogeneity of the graphene-coated Al CC. - evaluation of the electrochemical performance of an LFP cathode on a graphene-coated Al CC in lithium-ion batteries.
