Automated Seamless Interfaces for Sustainable Transport II (ASIST II)
Research Project, 2025
– 2028
Purpose and goal
The project has the overall aim to show how automated loading/unloading can support the transition to electric freight transport.
Expected effects and result
The project facilitates implementations of automated loading/unloading solutions that can improve employee safety, develop staffing procedures, reduce emissions, increase truck utilization, and increase the use of electric vehicles. By focusing on the numerous interfaces in the existing transport system for road freight the project will identify potentials in efficiency improvements.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will map and analyse several industrial cases, evaluating what degree of automation may be suitable for a given transport chain, and to develop different solutions to reach that level. Workshops will be used to identify future needs and requirements for the transport chains, as well as possible applications of technology to meet those needs. Solutions for automated loading/unloading will be developed and conceptually tested and evaluated on-site at the partner companies.
