Green and Grey Land Use Claims - GIS-based analyses to support land use decisions
Research Project, 2025
– 2027
The balance between green and grey land use is crucial to creating sustainable, liveable and climate-resilient cities. The project aims to develop new ways of working to enable evidence-based decisions between these land uses, where digitalisation creates new opportunities to make (system) effects visible. The project consists of five work packages: mapping of planning practices, co-creative policy labs, development of data standards, GIS-based decision support and strategic communication.Three scientific competences work together to highlight opportunities and obstacles for new ways of working. Through dialogue and co-creation in policy labs, together with municipalities in Göteborgsregionen, other regional actors, Stenungsund kommun and researchers, the project is driven forward. Strategic communication is continuously integrated to ensure relevance and dissemination.Through dialogue and co-creation in policy labs, together with municipalities in the Gothenburg region, regional actors, Stenungssund and researchers, the project is driven forward. The project is expected to result in a digital map service (prototype) and policy recommendations for changing working methods and data definitions, and lessons learnt from the policy labs. At societal level, the project contributes to increased collaboration, fewer delays in planning, and a better balance between climate change adaptation and mitigation. This also enhances biodiversity and the well-being of citizens.
