AI-Swedish network for Sustainable AI, Digitalization and Human- Centric Factory Transformation (AI-ShiftLabs)
Research Project, 2026
– 2029
AI- ShiftLabs is a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) supporting the digital transformation of manufacturing SMEs in Sweden.
The project builds on a strong national structure of five regional nodes—each combining academic excellence, industry outreach,
and testbed infrastructure—to deliver high-impact services to develop SME production capacity using technologies such as AI, IoT,
cybersecurity, robotics, and digital skills. ShiftLabs offers a comprehensive service portfolio structured around four core pillars: test
before invest, training and skills development, access to finance, and ecosystem networking. A standardized 12-step customer journey
and the ShiftLabs Portal ensure that SMEs receive tailored support from inspiration to implementation. Services are delivered in close
collaboration between partners and linked to European infrastructures such as AI Factories, Testing and Experimentation Facilities
(TEFs), and the AI-on-Demand Platform. Having already delivered over 250 services to 149 companies, ShiftLabs is a mature, operational
EDIH with a proven track record. The project also acts as a first-line AI helpdesk and coordinates with the Digital Transformation
Accelerator (DTA). ShiftLabs collaborates actively with other EDIHs to share services, align methods, and support SMEs across borders
—strengthening Europe's digital innovation ecosystem. Its activities directly support EU strategic goals for a sustainable, human-centric,
and resilient industrial ecosystem. Through this proposal, ShiftLabs will consolidate and scale its services, strengthen synergies across
Europe, and contribute to making Europe the AI continent. URL to call: https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/
