Turning Research into Reality
What happens when research meets the everyday reality of the construction industry? This is the core question of LFM30’s new project, in which results from Chalmers’ research on climate- and resource-efficient design are tested directly in practice.
Under the leadership of LFM30, Chalmers, Stadsverkstad, and Azote are collaborating to find new ways to reduce climate impact in the construction and civil engineering sector.
The project is funded by Formas and runs from 2025 to 2027.
Design sprints as a tool for change
The project is based on design sprints – a method for rapidly developing, testing, and evaluating new solutions through collaboration between researchers, clients/developers, consultants, and contractors.
Each sprint focuses on a concrete design challenge – such as the choice of structural materials, spatial layout, or logistics – and results in principles, tools, and visualisations that can be applied in real construction projects.
