Energy Resilient Cities (STORE)

Climate transition, new technologies and the new geopolitical landscape place new demands on our energy systems. Increased share of decentralised energy supply, flexibility in the power grids together with energy storage can enhance the resilience of energy systems by reducing vulnerabilities due to geopolitical conflicts and extreme weather events. To assess the possibilities with an increased decentralization of energy systems requires understanding of the techno-economics and institutional and organizational conditions required to promote such development. This transdisciplinary project will create understanding of how local energy systems can become more resilient by developing and applying energy system modelling combined with analysis of how modelled scenarios can be implemented regarding organization and cooperation. The project will use Gothenburg as a case study to co-create new context-specific solutions, providing inspiration for other cities to follow.
