Partiella urladdningar vid pulsbreddmodulerad och kraftfrekvent högspänning
Research Project, 2013 – 2015

The introduction of power electronics in the power system cause new stresses on the insulation. It has been shown that high-frequency components contribute to a decreased service life through partial discharges; the mechanism is however not fully understood. Detection of partial discharges under power electronic waveforms is presently not possible using standard methods. A unique technique to enable this has been developed in previous Electra projects. This application aims at making detection in normal service possible. This enables differences to normal AC voltages to be found. Important differences has been observed that may result in a much faster degradation in some insulation systems while others seem more robust.
