Prestudy of energy saving potential by using a high-frequency transformer and dc distribution
Research Project, 2016 – 2017

In this project the energy savings potential by using dc-technology is to be investigated. The project starts with the incoming 10/20 kV AC and goes all the way to the dc-links of the loads. The project is a cooperation between Chalmers, SP, Herrljunga Energi and Power Circle. The project is divided into 3 work packages, where WP1 collects and analyses the configuration of the final energy distribution form the 10/20 kV infeed, WP2 studies the type and sizes of loads in the buildings and WP3 determines the energy saving potentials. The project is conducted as a case study, however the results will be in a general form so that the results can be used for other configurations of grids and buildings. The goal is to achieve a 15 % reduction of the energy losses in the final distribution of the energy to the electric loads in a building.
