IMplementation of Powertrain Control for Economic and Clean Real driving emIssion and fuel ConsUMption (IMPERIUM)
Research Project, 2016 – 2019

The IMPERIUM project is looking to target a 20% reduction in fuel consumption (with no change in emissions) relative
to the 2014 production ‘Baseline’ vehicles. Part of this reduction will be due to the introduction of new technology which
is captured in the ‘Reference’ vehicle. The assessment of the IMPERIUM benefits should, therefore, break down the
fuel consumption reduction into the contribution from the new technology and the contribution from the IMPERIUM
technology advances.
