Future manufacturing of space components
Research Project, 2016
– 2018
Indications from the space industry state a change in matter of costs, volumes and lead time for communication satellites. Constellations involving hundreds, or even possibly thousands, of satellites are requested from customers. In these quotations it is vital to be able to offer a solution with low costs and short lead time, so vast volumes of satellites can be commissioned efficiently to offer good service to the inhabitants of the world.
RUAG Space AB, Gothenburg is a specialized manufacturer of reliable on-board satellite equipment and a contender on this market. This project aims at defining the prerequisites that requested to meet the market demands of higher volumes and shorter lead times to a decrease in product cost. The project also aims at identifying how RUAG Space will be able to manage a cyclic demand with a big variation in volume over shorter and longer time periods in the best way.
