Research Project, 2017 – 2019

The SWI (Submillimetre Wave Instrument) is a spectrometer/radiometer instrument which will fly on ESAs JUpiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE). JUICE is a mission chosen in the framework of the Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme of the Science and Robotic Exploration Directorate of the European Space Agency (ESA). Planned for launch in 2022 and arrival at Jupiter in 2030, it will spend at least three years making detailed observations of the giant gaseous planet Jupiter and three of its largest moons: Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.
