Effect based aircraft maintenance planning and operations support

This project has a twofold purpose connected to urgent matters in tomorrow’s aircraft systems. We will study, develop and demonstrate efficient methods for management and control of maintenance and support of tomorrow’s aircraft system by exploring a System-of-Systems (SoS) performance thinking combined with new and adapted mathematical optimization modelling and methods. Managing maintenance and support of aircraft systems means managing the whole set of sub-systems, in a contracting framework, in daily operations as well as over the whole life cycle. Our project will not only have impact on improvement of maintenance and support of aircraft systems, but will also lay a foundation for general SoS modelling based on formal mathematical methods. The benefit will therefore be broad within future aircraft systems research as well as in related domains. This cooperation between Saab and Chalmers will build successful research of the above formulation.
