Electrical and thermal modelling of battery pack
Research Project, 2019 – 2020

The aim of this project is to enhance the combined electro-chemical-termo-modelling of a lion battery cell, as well as for these cells put in a battery pack. This is to be done using the modelling approach with FEM as well as with LPN (Lumped parameter model)-modelling, and in addition by conducting experiments. An objective is furthermore to give recommendations regarding how much cooling that is needed to keep the temperature fluctuations to a safe level. Finally a goal is to further enhance the cooperation between Elteknik and Applied mechanics in the electro-thermal area, where already cooperations are ongoing regarding thermal modelling of electrical machines using both CFD calculations and LPN-modelling.
