5G-Enabled Manufacturing II (5GEMII)
Research Project, 2018
– 2019
A vital part of the rapidly increasing industrial digitalisation of manufacturing industries is the connectivity. Ability to connect machines, sensors, people, and supporting ICT systems enables integration of information flows for control, supervision, and interaction along digital supply-chains. These are the basic assumptions for widely implemented international initiatives like Industry 4.0. The proposed 5G-Enabled Manufacturing project (phase two) 5GEMII will create four demonstrators to show the use of 5G-technology in manufacturing systems at two industrial manufacturing sites and in one university-based testbed. The project bases its implementations on four demonstrators developed in a previous project, 5GEM, but where the scope of 5GEM was one machine, with its sensors and operators, the scope of 5GEMII is the whole factory shopfloor.
