Roll motion using a fully nonlinear method
Research Project, 2017
The project is part of a long term further development of an in-house fully nonlinear unsteady method for analysis of resistance and ship motions in waves. The focus during 2017 is on roll motion of ships in beam seas. Included is also a development towards analysis of motion and forces for wave energy converters.
The research is relevant for wave resistance, interaction between sea and ship in terms of wave loads and ship motions, and energy efficiency as well as input for fatigue and ultimate stress analysis. The impact of speed reduction can be studied. This is important for both energy efficiency (Eco-driving) and for the structural loads.
