Multifunctional performance of structural batteries under combined mechanical and electrical loads
Research Project, 2020 – 2021

The aim is to enhance our understanding of the in-service performance of structural battery composites systems and to propose theory for modelling of Li-Ion structural battery cells exposed to mechanical loads. The specific target with this research effort is to study a recent structural battery composite conceptual design with up to 10 cells under combined electrical and mechanical loads. Using cells made from carbon fibre electrode materials we will compare experimental results regarding capacity, resistance, etc. with theoretical predictions.
