Postdoc for terahertz imaging
Research Project, 2020
– 2021
Within the electromagnetic spectrum, the terahertz frequency range is sandwiched between visible light (photonics) and radio waves (microwaves) and has remained scientifically unexplored due to the technological challenges for generating and detecting electromagnetic waves at these frequencies, known as the terahertz gap. Recent progress in terahertz technology, opens up for exploratory research in a wide range of interesting topics using terahertz waves. Since 2013, Helena Rodilla has been working towards building up a new research field related to millimeter wave and terahertz technology for life science applications. This project will finance a one-year postdoc on terahertz imaging for the group of Helena Rodilla in a collaboration with Aalto University. The postdoc will contribute to consolidate the bio-terahertz group at MC2, the first female led group at the Microwave-Terahertz Laboratories at the department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience.
