New technology and digitalization as enablers of supply chain visibility innovations
Research Project, 2019
There are several on-going initiatives in the area of using new technology and digitalization in generating new models, methods and processes to improve visibility and proactive planning as well as to advance services in supply chains. The cross-disciplinary approach taken in this project refers both to engaging with actors at different levels in the supply chain as well as our attempt to learn from new technologies that are applied in different logistics settings. By this project we aim to broaden the research network within the focused areas, connecting our research and approaches to selected researchers and research groups in Sweden and abroad, some of which might not yet be identified, as well as deepening the collaborative efforts already initiated by AoA Transport funding. For this purpose, the collective strength of our activities is important in order to be an attractive partner for industry as well as international research groups. The following studies and initiatives are planned for inclusion:
- Advanced analytics to improve supply chain information sharing accuracy
- Condition-based monitoring and visibility of supply chain disturbances
- Linking intermodal terminals to Physical Internet Technologies
- Advancing logistics services through digitalization
- Physical internet
