Optimized antifouling strategies for coastal shipping -potential for savings in energy and reduced impact on the marine environment
Research Project, 2020 – 2021

This project targets to resolve energy consumption and environmental impact by coastal shipping segments and provide the possible savings by optimizing antifouling strategies. Antifouling strategies will include both type of antifouling coating and use of hull cleaning as measure. Data of traffic in coastal areas will be used together with data collected within laboratory test of ship hull coating performance. Further we aim to calculate savings in energy and summarize the results to present the best solution for each coastal traffic segment.
