Ageing phenomena coupled to dynamic cycling of automotive Li-ion batteries
Research Project, 2019
– 2025
The demand for electrified vehicles is increasing, but large challenges still remain to solve in order to increase the share of electric vehicles - among the most important are durability and cost of batteries.
It is known that the conditions of use, such as the SOC, current, and temperature, influence battery ageing heavily, but detailed understanding of the influence of dynamic usage is still lacking. In this project a novel method for testing battery ageing through decomposing dynamic drive cycles to synthetic equivalents will be used. Building on these tests electrochemical realistic ageing models will be developed to enable more optimal battery usage.
