Preserve and improve energy efficiency in listed buildings using super insulation materials
Research Project, 2016 – 2019

The project aims to develop and explore solutions that preserve historically valuable elements, lead to energy efficiency and space efficiency in buildings built before 1945. The solutions are based on super insulation materials which provide good thermal insulation with limited thickness. To ensure a good performance after renovation, i.e. no durability issues, laboratory and numerical building physics investigations are combined with risk assessment. The investigations provide data for risk assessment of the solutions which decides whether a solution should be implemented or combined with e.g. external coating. The laboratory investigations will be conducted in collaboration with the Universities of Trondheim and Vienna. Information from present field studies will be analyzed and compiled to provide additional knowledge about the measures that suit different conditions. The project is carried out in cooperation with other projects within Save & Preserve, E2B2 and Formas.
