Design for Performance
Research Project, 2017 – 2019

Next generation aero engines meet an increasingly complext set of requirements including increased expectations on energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness, while at the same time expectations on adaptability to more alternative aircrafts using the same engine base. This project aim to simulate how the engine architecture and installation in the aircraft incluence the forces and distortions that cascade requirements onto the major engine structural compoents.

The project has two coupled targes;

- To explore alternative configurations in the design space (Set Based Engineering)

- To gain knowledgeon how to formulate requirements oin next generation engine architectures (systems engineering)
