Why is not climate science taken for real? Studies of climate change denialism

Despite the consensus within climate science that global warming is occurring, that human actions are a prime contributor, added to the global political visibility of the issue, little progress has been made in developing effective policies to reduce carbon emissions. In this research project we scrutinize how do climate change denialism play part of this. This research program bring together leading researchers who have analyzed climate denialism for a long time to share experiences from different continents and cultures, and to formulate an effective, comparative research agenda on this issue with focus on extractive industries, conservative think tanks and right-wing populism. The program is an offspring from the world’s first conference specifically about climate change denialism held in Norrköping 2016. With the nodal point in Sweden, this program will make a timely and international contribution to burning questions of denial of climate science in our warming world.
