Wave loads and motions for a Wave Energy Converter
Research Project, 2015

The project concerns further development of an in-house fully nonlinear unsteady method for analysis of resistance and ship motions in waves. An option to compute wave loads and motions of a vertical cylindrical Wave Energy Converter is implemented.

The research is relevant for wave resistance, interaction between sea and ship in terms of wave loads and ship motions, and energy efficiency as well as input for fatigue and ultimate stress analysis. The impact of speed reduction can be studied. This is important for both energy efficiency (Eco-driving) and for the structural loads.
