OSNR Requirements for Self-Homodyne Coherent Systems
Journal article, 2010

The OSNR requirements for a self-homodyne coherent system are investigated theoretically and experimentally and compared to intradyne detection. The beneficial effect of band-pass filtering of the co-propagating local oscillator is demonstrated and it is shown that the performance limit for self-homodyne and intradyne systems becomes equal as the filter bandwidth is made small.
