This chapter provides a discussion of the potential impact of blockchain on political institutions. The first section offers a brief explanation of blockchain technology, followed by how it relates to the emergence of trust in political institutions. The second section describes the problems that arise from centralizing power, while the third part focuses on blockchain’s potential to mitigate some of these problems. Finally, the last section ventures into a discussion of the potential benefits of a blockchain nation.
