Learning Curves in the Energy Sector
My ambition is to talk about the opportunities for renewable energy. I will show you some figures describing the remarkable development of renewable energy in the last 5 to 10 years. If we go back 20 years or even 10 years, the challenges of global energy supply were seen as one of the most demanding challenges for those of us who were interested in sustainable development in the world where all people in the world could get a decent standard of living. We had the nuclear accident risks that were manifested by the catastrophe of Fukushima. And we had the ongoing climate crisis where accumulating carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased average temperatures worldwide, with extreme weather events causing much damage.
