Live Coding and Power of Performing Arts
Paper in proceeding, 2024

It is a well-known fact that we greatly need new teaching methods. Our current teaching practices are not delivering joy to our students nor are they effectively catering for the 4 super skills (4Cs) for the 21st century. In this paper, we discuss some of the Live coding practices we deployed during the Creative Coding project and argue that by their very nature, they represent a teaching methodology innovation. Participating in Live coding practices introduces aesthetic resonance and a state of joy and flow, catering to curiosity learning and personal empowerment. We argue that Live coding stands out as a promising avenue for the holistic development of critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration - 4C’s, among performers and audiences, and should be further explored as a novel teaching method.
