Investigation of Control Parameters’ Impact on Damping Property of Grid-Forming Converters
Paper in proceeding, 2024

In this paper, the damping properties of two different grid-forming (GFM) control strategies, namely direct control of converter voltage (DCCV) and virtual-admittance based control (VABC) are investigated. The investigation is based on network frequency perturbation (NFP) plot, derived from linearized model of the system. The analysis indicates the distinct impact of GFM control parameters on damping at different frequency regions. Finally, the analytical findings are validated through detailed time-domain simulations in MATLAB/Simulink.
