Jan Svensson is a Senior Principal Scientist on power electronic systems at ABB Corporate Research in Västerås. Short biography:Jan Svensson received the Ph.D. degree from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he was an Assistant Professor in Power Electronics at Chalmers, where he also received the D.Sc. degree (Docent) 2002. Until 2009, he was with different business units in ABB Sweden, involved in R&D of HVDC transmission, FACTS and energy storage, especially design and control of Voltage Source Converter-based grid-connected devices. From 2009 to 2014, he was Program Manager for the global R&D program “Active grid infrastructure” at ABB Corporate Research.Currently, he is a Senior Principal Scientist in Power Electronics Systems at ABB Corporate Research. His interests include design and control of power electronics in power systems, power quality, storage technologies and renewable energy.
