Large eddy simulation of the flow around a three-dimensional axysimetric hill
Paper in proceeding, 2006

LES of the flow around a three-dimensional hill is presented. Inlet boundary conditions are made from a DNS results of low Reynolds number channel flow. Two different computational grids are used containing 4.7 × 106 and 14.6 × 106 computational nodes. Results of LES are compared with the experimental data and it is found that the agreement varies in the flow. Furthermore it is found that while the refinement of the computational grid improves the agreement with the experimental data in the flow on the lee side of the hill it deteriorates this agreement in measured plane further downstream. Besides, it is shown that the influence of the inlet boundary condition on the results is very week.
