Technological Frontiers in Education: Exploring the Impact of AI and Immersive Learning
Book chapter, 2025

This chapter investigates the influence of technology on contemporary education, with a nuanced exploration of its impact on learning processes, personalised education, and educational outcomes. The chapter delves into the integration of digital resources, online platforms, and collaborative tools that redefine learning processes, fostering interactive and globally connected educational experiences. A central focus of this examination is on the emergence of individual and personalised education facilitated by technological advancements. Adaptive learning platforms and data-driven algorithms are dissected for their role in tailoring academic and higher educational content to individual learning styles, thereby enhancing student engagement and autonomy. The chapter also delves into the implications of technology in fostering self-directed learning and accommodating diverse educational needs in the context of organisation and professional environments. We understand the three levels based on their different perspectives and goals, which are distinguished by the person as an individual from the learning setting in a university and from that in an organisation. The organisation is viewed from the perspective of the employee and the organisational structure, which therefore includes educational institutions and all companies and industrial corporations that deal with learning and development. Furthermore, the investigation in this chapter extends on two case studies: AI-driven learning systems in the organisational context and university projects in urban-based education with the use of AR/MR tools.
