Demonstration of Island Operation of Grid-Forming Converter Based Wind-Battery Systems
Paper in proceeding, 2025

This paper presents alternative designs and demonstration results of innovative solutions for island operation of an integrated wind and solar power based system with grid-forming converter and battery energy storage. A complete power system architecture incorporating a grid-forming converter has been developed and experimentally validated in the power system laboratory at Chalmers University of Technology. The laboratory tests showed that the implemented control strategies of the grid forming converter effectively enabled secure and stable island operation of the system, characterized by high quality voltage and frequency control.
