Brushless Excitation System for High Current for Superconducting Motor
Paper in proceeding, 2025

This study describes the modeling of a superconducting motor (SC) and the development of a brushless excitation system (BES) for stable power supply to a high-temperature superconducting field coil. In superconductivity., the maximum magnetic field varies depending on the type of cryogenic refrigerant., wire type., and coil shape. The stator adopted a core-less structure and copper windings. After a prototype fabricated., the no-load back electromotive force was compared with the 2D FEA results with no-load experiments. For more stable power supply to field coil, the BES was designed considering high current with low voltage. The BES has been verified with SC motor by transmitting high current.
