Comprehensive Data of a Grain Oriented Reference Material for Efficient Modelling of Axial Flux Machines
Paper in proceeding, 2026
However, complete flux measurement in different directions is often unavailable for many GOES. This work presents a practical approach to estimate the core loss in different flux directions for a research GOES material using limited available material data. The B-H and B-P curves of three reference materials with known data in the Rolling Direction (RD) and some data in the Transverse Direction (TD) were analysed to understand the relationship between core loss in different flux directions. Based on this comparison, research material data was constructed using a simple scaling approach. The researched GOES material was used in YASA AFM and it was found that the average core loss is reduced by 28% compared to a Non-Oriented (NO) stator core.
