Electrical reliability enhancement of the DC/DC stage of an onboard vehicle battery charger
Paper in proceeding, 2016

To increase the reliability of the DC/DC stage of an onboard vehicle battery charger, some important electrical fault cases are selected and analyzed. For each fault case, the circuit is analyzed and based on the results, appropriate fault detection algorithms are proposed. In addition, after the detection of a fault mode, appropriate changes in the controller settings are proposed for a possible improvement in the device operation. To increase the circuit reliability and fault tolerance, some design recommendations are provided in the hardware and software level. Examples of design change suggestions are addition of an extra component like a diode in a critical circuit point or utilizing a sensorless method in the case of a sensor network fault.
