Performance effects of using external warehouses in materials supply to assembly
Paper in proceeding, 2016

The paper deals with external warehouses in the materials supply to assembly. It aims to identify the effects on the material flows that are associated with the use of external warehouses and to explore why these effects arise. The paper includes case studies of the material supply to and within four automotive assembly plants. Applying a material flow mapping methodology, the paper describes and analyses the cases based on the amount of handling, administration, transportation, and storage points that is displayed.
