Design e cidades: espaços públicos e a relação com a mobilidade urbana ativa (Design and cities: public spaces and the relationship with active urban mobility)
Paper in proceeding, 2021

This article presents the exploratory phase of the research project "Design strategies for the promotion of active urban mobility" developed in the Scientific Initiation Program of the Design Department of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). The work began to be developed with weekly discussions, reading background texts and mapping individual paths in search of connection points. During the process, it was used the tool of asystematic bibliographic review from keywords related to active mobility, urban furniture, pedestrians and bicycles. The search helped identify design strategies in projects, as well as their relationship with city law and development, urban planning, and social innovation. The results allowed the identification of convergent concepts about the theme, reinforcing the importance of the practical, aesthetic and symbolic functions of urban furniture in cities for its effective use. These concepts provide theoretical subsidies for the development of the next stage of the research, the field phase.
