Transport and gender: bibliometric mapping and a comprehensive review of the literature
Forskningsprojekt, 2019
Having a sustainable transport system is considered as a key factor in the social and economic development of countries (Stjernborg and Mattisson, 2016; Mejia-Dorantes, 2018). To create a sustainable transport system, it is important to consider gender issues when defining transport related policies (Mejia-Dorantes, 2018). Transport is known to be a male-dominated sector, both from an employment point of view and for the values which are embedded (EU, 2009; Mejia-Dorantes, 2018). Gender issues have begun to be considered and featured in strategies and agendas for transport policy in recent years (Duchène, 2011).Thus, the main objective of this work was to map and provide a comprehensive overview of the scientific literature concerning gender issues in transport systems.
